Hybrid Brachioplasty™
Arm lift surgery helps patients regain a toned and proportionate contour to their upper arms.
However, many patients may not be ready (or need) to commit to the more extensive surgical methods of a traditional approach. That is why Dr. Brent, a top plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, created the Hybrid Brachioplasty™, one of his Signature techniques designed to bridge the gap between nonsurgical techniques and traditional plastic surgery.

What Is the Hybrid Brachioplasty™?
Like a traditional arm lift, Hybrid Brachioplasty™ removes excess skin and tightens the upper arm, resulting in a toned contour. However, the core difference with Hybrid Brachioplasty™ is the incision length. Traditional arm lift techniques require an incision that begins at the top of the inner arm and extends all the way to the elbow. Hybrid Brachioplasty™ shortens this incision and then relies on alternative techniques to tighten the skin rather than relying purely on a cut-and-remove approach.
As with a traditional arm lift, Hybrid Brachioplasty™ centers around three key adjustments:
- Removing excess skin
- Removing unwanted fat
- Tightening supportive subdermal tissues
Combined with BodyTite
Part of the “Hybrid” aspect refers to the combined use of BodyTite to enhance the tightening effects. This minimally invasive cosmetic procedure uses radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis (RFAL) to melt fat and tighten loose skin simultaneously.
- A handpiece with a probe is inserted through a tiny incision.
- RF energy travels through the probe to heat the soft tissue layer to liquefy unwanted fat.
- The fat is gently suctioned out.
- Simultaneously, the thermal energy heats the fibrous septa under the skin, contracting the tissue.
- This also stimulates long-term collagen remodeling to further firm the treated area.

Advantages of Hybrid Brachioplasty™
- Shorter incisions
- Less scarring
- Improved recovery time
- Definitive results
- Ideal for younger patients
- No drains required
Who Is a Candidate for Hybrid Brachioplasty™?
Ideal candidates are those who have started noticing arm concerns. Traditionally, these patients would only be offered a full-incision brachioplasty. While this would deliver adequate results, the required incision and subsequent scarring are often disproportionate to the patient’s needs. Hybrid Brachioplasty™ provides a more reasonable starting place for patients with characteristics like:
- Younger Age: Patients in their 40s or younger can qualify for Hybrid Brachioplasty™.
- Post-Weight Loss: Weight loss at any age can leave behind stretched excess skin.
In particular, the prevalence of patients successfully losing weight with GLP-1 medications has broadened the pool of younger people who could benefit from brachioplasty.
Hybrid Brachioplasty™ FAQs
What is recovery like for Hybrid Brachioplasty™?
The smaller incision means less trauma for your body to repair. As such, recovery is often quicker and milder than with traditional arm lifts. Patients often can return to light exercise by 2 weeks, with heavier exercise possible by 4 weeks.
Additionally, patients often can already shower by day 3 (with proper care and drying of surgical sites). All stitches used are self-dissolving, so you will not need a separate visit to remove them, and no drains are used.
What are the results like?
The results are comparable to traditional arm lift techniques. The core difference is that Hybrid Brachioplasty™ is for patients with less extensive arm laxity. For such patients, Hybrid
Brachioplasty™ would yield the same benefits as a traditional method but lets such patients
avoid the longer scar of traditional techniques.
The benefits are long-lasting, as the excess skin is permanently removed. Age-related changes
in skin can still eventually occur, but patients with a stable body weight can see results that last for years.
Is there visible scarring?
Incision placement is confined to places under the arm where any scarring would be minimally
visible. Scarring is considerably less than with traditional arm lift techniques. While a scar still develops, it will be less noticeable. Furthermore, good scar aftercare can gradually improve its appearance over time.
Can I combine Hybrid Brachioplasty™ with other procedures?
Patients with the right candidate profile can readily combine procedures with Hybrid
Brachioplasty™. Most commonly, patients may combine it with:
- Liposuction
- Tummy tuck (including Hybrid Tummy Tuck™)
- Breast procedures
- Breast augmentation
- Breast lift
- Breast reduction
When combined, these procedures can create a more balanced upper body contour. When
consulting with Dr. Brent, he can provide guidance on potential combinations and appropriate
techniques.
Why choose one of Dr. Brent's signature techniques?
Dr. Brent has developed multiple signature trademarked techniques to address gaps in current
plastic surgery techniques. With Hybrid Brachioplasty™, he wanted to create a solution for
younger patients who otherwise would have to prematurely commit to a full arm lift. Dr. Brent's
focus in developing these techniques is to offer patients options that bring about optimal results
with more conservative, goal-appropriate methods.
My experience with Dr. Moelleken and his staff was the absolute best possible.
Dr. was very interested in his patient as were his staff. Making you comfortable and secure in the knowledge of his skills, which are the best. No problems.
No looking “done” just better. Thank you.
