Multiple surgical procedures performed at the same setting are frequently requested, especially after the television show "Extreme Makeover".
During each surgical consultation, Dr. Moelleken gives patients scheduling options for multiple procedures. Although many procedures can be done in one surgical setting, it is the policy of Dr. Moelleken to make recommendations that maximize patient safety.
Accordingly, when the combination of procedures, or the duration of procedures could not be safely performed at a single setting, the procedures can usually be staged one or more weeks apart, to maximize patient safety and surgical results. Every effort is made to assure the best medical practices and safest professional medical procedures in the industry. This includes using a State/Medicare approved outpatient surgery center, board certified anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and staff that are ACLS trained.
On rare occasions, it is necessary to stop the surgery when multiple surgeries are being performed, and continue the remaining procedures at a later date. This decision is made during surgery, and for patient safety purposes only.
